So, Dorking Town, Dorktown, Big Fun Alfs Pleasuredome....whatever you call it, we played on Friday - not the hugest turn out ever, but it was a momentous occasion - we 'headlined' a show, well, not really - but we played last...this essentially meant we played to the least people, but fuck it, we didn't care!
Cheers Alf and the other bands (Brothers, really ace - imagine a heavier version of The Thermals playing garage punk with great almost streetpunk style vocals, Some Sort of Threat - some sort of treat! Nice acoustic folk stylings, like a young billy bragg or something, nice chap too. Dunc McDinkle did his thang, to much applause and awesome backing vocals from the crowd, infectious stuff!) Was a nice friendly bunch, and cheers for Jon Jess and Timmy for making the journey from Kingston on a cold March evening.
So, we saw the giant metal cock, to similar amusement and punnage as the last time, we played darts with some nice st.georges flags and union jacks as flights - hence, racist darts....PCwot?
Everyone who bought me a pint, thanks - I didn't have to play sober in the end. Ace. We also played for a million years (we need the practice), probably double our usual set-length, which jon pointed out is twice as long as we should have played for! Ah well, double the practice.
Oh yes, there will 99% be 11 only limited number DIY made bastion t-shirts ready for the tour. We hope.
I don't like Mondays. I don't need to tell you why.
Bowden, as ever.

Dorks and Stickers and a one week countdown...
Yup, tonight is Dorking - playing with lots of Exeter types (Brothers and Some sort of Threat) and also Dunc the chap from Dinkle and Killing Pablo who are both ace bands so he should be good fun too.
Due to financial constraints this might be the first ever show I do 100% stone cold steve austin sober. I have concerns. But considering my spending budget for tour isn't exactly expansive, I suppose I'd better get used to it....maybe if I'm nice to people they'll buy me drinks? maybe?
To put how skint I currently am into context, I just had my lunch - a pack of mini chedders. Can a man live on this alone? I'd probably better flash the cash and buy an apple later too so I don't get scurvy.
We've just had some little stickers with a lovely big face sent out to us, so if you'd like a couple just ask, they're free as the wind baby...we'll tuck these inside the albums anyway so if you buy an album they'll be in there. Decorate your face suckah.
Anyway, one week to tour starts in Kingston - we're 50/50 at getting our split 7"s in time. Just pray on that one. But come to Kingston, bring friends, watch bands, drink and be merry and all that shit.
5.5 more working days, thats 39.88 hours of work until a week of sleeping on sofas and drinking cider. Ace.

Iain (No Relation) Buchanan's Art Attack in Bristol

Well, It's all coming together....Iain drew this lovely poster. We're supporting Jak Suicide Bookings band Killed By Hollywood, and there's one more band to be announced. Lovely job.
In other news, I was told I have 'pretty hair' by a lady at work yesterday. Maybe I should get the clippers out.

Well, hopefully there's a spangly little yellow box above sending you a paypal link to purchase the album and not a lot of HTML bollocks. *prays*
We're selling the album for £5 shows or £5.50 through paypal so we can buy envelopes and pay for postage innit. 14 tracks.
If you do reviews / write a zine and want a 'promo' copy without all the spangly lovely art (which all 4 of us lovingly hand drew) then drop us a line at bastionuk@gmail.com and we'll get a copy chucked your way also.
Anyway, no other major news bar the fact the Newbury show is definitely TITSUP so we're looking for a show on the 6th. If you have any ideas let us know!
Cheers
Dan

Credit where credit's due...

The above photo from the Boozin' of the 5000 Saaaarth London Punk Fest is going to be a diddy image on our split 7" Lost London release...so the Credit in the bottom right hand corner is even more obscured than here, and therefore not giving any credit to the Photographer Imelda Michalczyk. This therefore needs to be rectified.
Have a good ganders at the above websites for more examples of her work, and to contact her for shoots / live shoots etc.
Cheers.

So....
We played on Friday.
Personally I only saw Off with their Heads and The Blankheads and both were excellent. I got drunk the rest of the night and missed the 2 other bands, which was probably a foolish error, especially as I was shit at Pool, and spilt someones drink over a coat. (Bob I'm really sorry about that if you ever read this, and the offer for cleaning costs are there as I know how annoying it is when pissheads do this..)
All four of us had different opinions on how well / sloppy we were! Personally I thought 2 shows in the last 7 months (!) definitely showed, and that we still need to practice all the new songs from the album a fair bit more before tour as they need tightening up big willie style. Dan Bell thought we were as AWESOME as ever the mentalist, and I think Dave and Iain were somewhere inbetween and a bit more sensible. Thanks to the usual gaggle of friends who came and politely applauded and massaged our massively inflated egos (Jimbo, Tom, dAnneka, Jo, Vicky, Dawn, Steve, Julie, Gemma) as ever it's nice to see everyone together and especially on a weekend, though wish we played the albert more as the toilets are so rank in the Hobgoblin. And it was really good to see some Kingston/London types (and exiles) turn up at various stages of the evening, mainly the end though, as they all missed us due to us playing at 4.26pm (probably for the best though, with hindsight!).
Same old Lessons for me from playing live: STOP FUCKING TALKING AS I'M SHIT AT 'BANTER'. Could someone hold up a board with that for me at every show please, abusing your bandmates and generally apologising for being so shit does not a frontman make.....take note.
Pretty much sorry to anyone I drunkenly bored and depressed the rest of the evening - I blame the Cider. And the Sambuca. I take no responsibility for my actions.
Well Album sales are off to a flyer - we sold ONE! ho ho ho. We're laughing all the way to the wankbank.
We now have another show before tour with some nice people in D0rking (Fun Alf! and co.), and with some nice people from Devon also playing (Brothers, Some sort of threat) - think there's still a big ol' spanking TBC on that bill too. This'll be at the Lincoln Arms, usual times and all that nonsense. Someone bring the 'shut the fuck up dan' sign please - or just shout it out, seriously. That's happening on Friday 27th of March that is...
Sounds like one of the tour dates (6th) might be a bit sketchy due to some fuckhead thiefs who robbed one of the venues and royally fucked them over - May they burn for enternity in cash converters, the (likely) scaggy thievy bastards. We'll keep you posted with regards to this. If Newbury/surrounding area date goes tits up then we'll either be a) looking for a show, or b) out on the piss in Brighton / London / Southend. I wouldn't mind a game of Megazone actually....
Still haven't set up an online purchasing system for the Album on the myspace or here, but I'm sure you'll all survive.
Yours excrutiatingly,
B'den

All systems go for the tour - here's a some of the flyers and a poster lovingly created in Paint for Windows as I'm a total photoshoot idiot, so if dan bell or iain have time we might have an improved posted before tour! (I hope..)
I also did the Fighting Cocks poster with some help from google images and dan bell. Check out the dead beat - www.myspace.com/thedeadbeatlondon - they've just uploaded their first ever recordings, which are NICE.
We now have the albums all ready (once we've folded the lyrics sheets) for this fridays show at the Hobgoblin supporting Off With Their Heads and others - which is nice. Come down! It's FREE!
burden music done a pretty tidy job with them so thanks for getting them back to us so quickly. Nice job.
I also recieved a test pressing from Jake and Ed the Lost London Records chaps over the weekend and had a beer with them! which was nice. Good to properly meet those gents. Excited over the 7" now! Hopefully news on a release show to follow sometime in future if calendars and diaries allign....
Realised that we now only have a max of 4 practices before tour so that's a bit scary. And lots of general life maintenance and administration to do before then so busy times.
We might have new badges, we might not...I'm sure you'll live either way.
Also, in unrelated news The Bronx and F*cked Up Brighton show last week was fun. I wish I was Matt from the Bronx, but I'm not, so I'll get over that in time.
Nice.
